Today in Lilongwe we were honored to be joined by WAG Executive Director Miss Stella Nkhonya and DAPP Country Director Mr. Moses Chibwana under the EU‑funded UNITE‑4‑ADP Project – turning the African Disability Protocol (ADP) into practical reality for women and girls with disabilities in Malawi.
How the ADP & UN CRPD work together
Stigma & harmful practices – ADP + CRPD combat superstitions witchcraft‑related violence and prejudice.
Right to work – ADP Art. 19 guarantees the right to work for persons with disabilities.
Adequate standard of living – ADP Art. 20 ensures housing, water and social protection (matching CRPD Art. 28).
Empowerment – ADP Art. 27 (credit, education, employment) + CRPD Art. 6 (targeted measures for women/girls).
Health & social security – ADP Art. 17 + CRPD Arts. 25 & 28.
Data for inclusion – ADP Art. 32 & CRPD Art. 31 (disaggregated statistics by gender/age).
Our commitment: WAG Disability Rights and DAPP Malawi led by Miss Nkhonya and Mr. Chibwana work hand‑in‑hand with traditional leaders, government and OPDs to build an inclusive Malawi where no one is left behind.
