Empower-Her Project, we are investing in local leadership

Under the Empower-Her Project, we are investing in local leadership as a key driver of disability inclusion and social change.

Today at Capital City Motel in Lilongwe, 60 local leaders from Kauma, Senti and Area 23 are strengthening their knowledge and understanding of disability rights, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with particular focus on women and girls with disabilities.

The training is equipping leaders with practical knowledge of important policy and legal frameworks including the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the Disability Act, Malawi Vision 2063, the National Policy on Equalisation of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities and the Malawi Constitution. Participants are also exploring barriers to inclusion and their role in promoting accessible, safe and inclusive communities.

By empowering duty bearers with the knowledge and skills to champion the rights of persons with disabilities, we are laying the foundation for communities where everyone can participate, thrive and live with dignity. Kynnys ry
