Building the Next Generation of Leaders

Youth and Girls with Disabilities Take the Lead!
WAG Disability Rights successfully hosted a Leadership Development Training for youth and girls with disabilities under our project “Enhancing Inclusive Access to SRHR Information and Services for Adolescent Girls and Youth with Disabilities”, supported by Hivos through the Regional SRHR Fund.
The training brought together 30 youths and girls with disabilities to build their skills in:
. Advocacy -Speaking up for their rights and the rights of others
. Communication -Expressing themselves effectively and confidently
. Accessible Information -Understanding and sharing information in inclusive ways
. Problem Solving -Finding solutions to challenges they face
This session was part of our commitment to empower youth and girls with disabilities to take on leadership roles in their communities and represent others in decision-making spaces especially during climate-related crises.
Participants were equipped with confidence and competencies to advocate for their own sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), understand their bodies, make informed decisions and become leaders in their communities.
We believe that when youth and girls with disabilities are empowered, everyone wins.
Together, we are building a future where no one is left behind.
