Human Rights of Women and Girls with Disability(WAG Disability Rights) has stressed the need to engage and include youth and girls with disabilities in disaster preparation, response and recovery and ensure quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services during natural disasters.

Speaking on Saturday at Senti at WAG disability rights resource centre in Lilongwe during the advocacy training on the promotion of SRH services and inclusive climate change adaptation for sustainable Africa, organised in partnership with ICASSA with suppport from HIVOS, the WAG Executive Director Ms Stella Nkhonya stressed that its high time government and other stakeholders joined hands to support youth and girls with disabilities access friendly health service during climate crisis.The dialogue based on the Rights based approach linking it to the 2024 Disability Act stresses the need to include youth and girls with disabilities in developmental activities of the country. The facilitator Dr George Kayange put emphasis on lack of knowledge of the Act and trained the participants on the same . This was an eye opener to the Rights holders to seek justice through government channels like MACODA whenever they feel their rights have been violated.
