Balaka, Malawi The Moyo Olemekezeka intervention funded by the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through the What Works 2 Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza (PKN) project, continues to strengthen families and communities through weekly Social Empowerment Sessions aimed at ending and preventing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).

Now in Week 7 participants from villages under Group Village Head (GVH) Nkaya in Balaka District continue to meet regularly, sharing experiences and building positive relationships. These sessions provide a safe and supportive environment where husbands, wives and their respective in-laws come together to engage in open dialogue, foster mutual understanding and promote collective growth.

Guided by trained facilitators, participants are actively involved in discussions and activities that promote healthy relationships, social empowerment and the creation of communities free from Intimate Partner Violence. The sessions are designed to challenge harmful social norms, encourage gender equality and equip families with the skills needed to build resilient and harmonious households.

Through this initiative, we are fostering stronger families, transforming social norms and building safer, more inclusive communities across Malawi.
